Project: Local House

Brio’s Weatherfold® for exterior bifold doors and Timberoll for straight sliding panels, helped connect a Californian style Bungalow in Melbourne, Australia with its outdoor space. The family’s desire was to create an environment that allowed them to connect with friends and family while enjoying their home.

The concrete base of the project was formed in situ and recycled fence palings were used to give texture and grain. Concrete is also used internally to create integrated seats, benches and durable surfaces for family life. A decorative timber screen gives contrast to the concrete and clads the extruded upper level and provides sun shading plus privacy, while still providing distant views over the rooftops beyond.

The kitchen and dining area were opened up to the outdoor entertaining space with 2 sliding, stacker door systems and a corner folding system, all hardware supplied by Brio. The ease of operation allows this home to transform in a matter of moments.
